2026 Greater Bay Area Semiconductor Industry Ecosystem Expo Opens in Shenzhen as Over 1,000 Exhibitors Converge to Showcase Semiconductor Innovations

Artificial Intelligence

On October 14, the 2026 Greater Bay Area Semiconductor Industry Ecosystem Expo (WESEMiBAY) opened at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center (Futian). Themed "Chips for the Future, Smart Ecosystems," the expo brings together over 1,000 companies from the global semiconductor supply chain to showcase the latest technological achievements in semiconductor equipment, materials, advanced packaging, chip design, and artificial intelligence. On the opening day, the nearly 80,000-square-meter exhibition venue was bustling with visitors, creating a vibrant atmosphere for industry exchange and business matchmaking.

This year's WESEMiBAY is guided by the China International Engineering Consulting Corporation and hosted by the Shenzhen Semiconductor and Integrated Circuit Industry Alliance and Shenzhen Major Industrial Investment Group Co., Ltd. The exhibition features four core zones: Wafer Fabrication, Compound Semiconductors, Advanced Packaging, and IC Design/AI Infrastructure. It also highlights specialized zones, including the AI+3D IC Advanced Packaging Innovation Zone, the Innovation and Industry Ecosystem Zone of the National Technology Innovation Center for Third-Generation Semiconductors, and the AIE AI Infrastructure Industry Ecosystem Expo, covering key links in the industry chain from chip design and manufacturing to computing power applications.

The exhibitor lineup features leading domestic and international enterprises such as ASML, Applied Materials, Lam Research, NAURA, AMEC, Xingkailai, HWATSING, and Piotech, showcasing technological innovation and development achievements in the semiconductor industry. Notably, about 80% of the participating companies are from outside Shenzhen, further demonstrating the expo's strong industry cluster effect and broader catalytic impact.

The concentrated debut of new technologies and products is a major highlight of this year's expo. At the opening ceremony, Qiyunfang, HWATSING, Changfei Advanced, Weidao Nano, CETC Equipment, Piotech, and the Shenzhen Pinghu Laboratory jointly unveiled their innovative achievements. Among these, Qiyunfang made the domestic debut of its EDA system-level electronic design toolchain; HWATSING launched a medium-current ion implanter; Weidao Nano introduced a new generation of thin-film deposition equipment; and the Shenzhen Pinghu Laboratory released the world's first 8-inch GaN-on-SiC enhancement-mode HEMT process platform, demonstrating China's innovative progress in key semiconductor technologies.

Alongside the exhibition, the event concurrently hosted the Opening Ceremony and Semiconductor Industry Development Summit, the Greater Bay Area Integrated Circuit Science and Technology Conference, and a series of professional forums. Academicians Mao Junfa, Chang Ray, and Guo Yongxin, along with industry representatives, gathered in Shenzhen to exchange views on hot topics such as artificial intelligence, chip materials, and advanced manufacturing. During the conference, Yin Zhiyao, Chairman and General Manager of AMEC, launched an initiative for the co-building of the semiconductor industry ecosystem, calling for strengthened collaborative innovation across the supply chain.

Beyond showcasing cutting-edge technologies, WESEMiBAY also provides collaboration platforms for supply chain procurement, investment and financing roadshows, and industry matchmaking, facilitating the effective integration of technology, capital, and market demand. Prior to the expo, the organizers coordinated dedicated matchmaking events with multiple industrial cluster cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan, and Chengdu, further expanding the scope for industrial cooperation.

The expo will run through October 16. Moving forward, a series of events will be held in succession, including the 3rd Greater Bay Area Semiconductor Investment and Financing Strategic Development Forum, the AIE Smart Computing Ecosystem Conference, and the Global Industry Analyst Forum. These events will provide a platform for global semiconductor enterprises to deepen exchanges and cooperation, and to share in the industrial development opportunities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
