The 2026 Global Digital Economy Conference opened in Beijing on July 2. The conference is themed "Building Digital-Friendly Cities — Smart Boundless, Digital Global Connection."
Beijing has over 2,500 AI companies, with the digital economy value-added exceeding 2.4 trillion yuan in 2025. The city is committed to becoming a global digital economy benchmark city.
The conference is co-hosted by the Beijing Municipal Government, the Cyberspace Administration of China, the National Data Administration, Xinhua News Agency, UNDP, UNIDO, the World Data Organization, and the Global Digital Economy City Alliance.
The opening ceremony released the "Global Digital Economy City Development Report" and launched a special action to improve digital service convenience for inbound personnel in key cities.
